Donations Needed: Battered Women’s Shelter – Kamez, Albania
The Albanian Faith Foundation along with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Humanitarian are teaming up for the Battered Women’s Shelter in Kamez, Albania.
The Kamez Women’s Shelter serves as a safe haven for women and their children from abusive relationships. The shelter provides modest living conditions, a common kitchen area and school classroom. Currently, the shelter is in very poor condition and funding is extremely limited. Common rooms and living areas have mildew and mold and are in urgent need of remediation, repair and painting. Much of the electrical does not work in the building. There are no working washing machines, and the shelter has limited operating kitchen appliances. Food must be purchased each day since there is no refrigeration.
The scope of the project will include: repairing of mold affected areas, repainting of most of the shelter, electrical repairs to the kitchen and about half the building, supplying new washing machines, kitchen appliances, bunk beds, tables and chairs for the classroom, school supplies, toys for children and some playground equipment.
