Matt was born and raised in Utah, and then moved to Houston, Texas with his family where he completed high school. He was originally called to serve in the Germany Munich mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was serving when he was called to assist in opening up missionary work in Albania in 1992. Matt graduated from Brigham Young University and then received his law degree at the University of Texas. Matt lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his wife and three daughters. He is a partner with the law firm of Holland & Hart, where he practices real estate law. Matt has enjoyed returning to Albania often to renew friendships and serve the people of Albania, focusing on humanitarian projects to help those in need. Matt is one of the founding members of the Albanian Faith in Every Footstep Foundation which gives him continued opportunities to give back to the country and people that he loves.
